Yesterday, we brought you !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , sent out by !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , teasing its !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! reveal. At the time, all we knew about the car was that it's a coupe, and falls into the automaker's F performance line. But now, some more details have leaked.

Kinja'd!!!

An anonymous tipster passed us a link to !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , which Lexus is using to invite folks to an event at the Detroit show where the new RC F coupe will be revealed. But that same tipster also sent us a scan of the mailed-out invitation, shown at right (click the image to enlarge), which clearly states that the RC F will be powered by a 460-horsepower V8. The invite also says Lexus will show its 2015 RC 350 coupe in Detroit, following !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! at the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! in November.

We cannot totally verify the authenticity of the scanned invitation, but with a corresponding website live on the web, it all looks pretty legit to us. Stay tuned for more details closer to the RC F's debut in January.

Maybe they'll source the engine from GM (the new Corvette's 460 HP LT1). Toyota/Lexus is going to have a tough time beating the HP * MPG multiple the LT1 yields, and the LT1 also provides for a lower center of gravity and hood line (as opposed to a 90 degree DOHC V8).

Lexus SC400, Toyota V8-powered, you might have gotten the Supra-six SC300.

"No" what?

The new 460 HP 'Vette is EPA rated at 17 city/29 highway. I know that isn't BS because I've owned an LS1 Z28 and an LS3 Corvette.

And it's FACT that a pushrod V8 has a lower CG (and provides for a lower hood line) than a DOHC V8 of the same (e.g. 90 degree) V configuration.

The Lexus LFA's HP *fuel economy multiple (553 HP and a horrible 11 city/16 highway MPG) wasn't remotely competitive with the last gen. LS7 Z06 Corvette's (505 HP and 15 city/24 highway MPG) , yet the two provided nearly identical performance - despite the fact that the LFA was dramatically more expensive.

No, that was the horrible SC430, the "successor" of the SC300/400/Supra. It was a major letdown.

Back when the SL55 was being produced, a guy made a Lexus 430 version. It was a twin turbo'd V8, murdered out, wide body creation. It had deep dish rims, and looked sick, if I remembered correctly. It had a custom made widebody that looked tastefully done. And I believe it was putting out around 500 hp...

If only Lexus had the stones to do an F version of the car way back when.

Yeah but I think you can make a perfect conversion of 2JZ into Soarers... And talking about Bimmer straight six, IMO it is built under utterly distinctive philosophy than 2JZs. In other words, it's not exactly what you can call a substitute. Anyhow, it's still good to see guys around.

You're to provide a single TECHNICAL reason why the new Corvette's LT1 wouldn't make a fine engine for the Lexus RC-F. I (a 50 year old mechanical engineer), on the other hand, have provided a slew of them.

And referring to a gen III or later GM V8 as "a small block" shows your complete ignorance of the subject. They share NO COMPONENTS with the original (e.g. 1955 - 1996) small block Chevy engines and the only dimension that's shared is the bore spacing.

Summarily, you're a fool.
